I have done many things in my life:originally trained as a special education teacher, I worked with children who had multiple disabilities. I started potting as a hobby, that later developed into a full time occupation and I had my own pottery studio in the USA, for 15 years, selling my work through craft galleries and craft fairs.
Relocating to England I have reinvented myself by years of training - first as an art- psychotherapist and later as a transpersonal psychotherapist.
I use art in my therapy practice extensively.
I started potting again a few years ago - but I am now longer a full time potter.
I make my pots in the workshop of an adult education centre, so I depend on the limited resources available in a classroom setting.
The pots I make are high fire in an oxidation, stoneware and porcelain, made for everyday use. They are all oven and dishwasher safe.
My inspiration comes from oriental ceramics, the classic chinese and japanese pottery, that also influenced many of the potters since Bernard Leach wrote his famous 'Potters Book'.
In my pots I do not strife for perfection , but rather for the elusive quality of a presence and character - something that just feels right.
My hope is that whoever uses my pots will sense this and respond to it.
I also like to make sculptural pieces, cachepots for potted plants and vases for Japanese style flower arranging.

This is an example of the sculptural ceramic that I make. It can still used as a pot for plants , but can also stand alone. Each one is different of course.

I make pots to contain plants, that can be then displayed on the table, or anywhere in the house. Glazed, with feet, some decorated, some plain and they come in various shapes, colours and sizes.

Here are some if the decorative plaques that can be hang on the wall. They are also one of a kind.
